Coywolves will eat anything that they can get. This includes human scraps.

They are found in rural areas in Toronto, Chicago, New York. In these cities, they can be found in large parks, cemeteries, and wooded areas. As open land disappears, they can be found near highways and along rail-road tracks.

Evolution of the Coywolf

Coywolves come from an area above the great lakes where wolves and coyotes have bred together
This breed has come together on it’s own, without humans keeping them in captivity, however this breed was caused by human interactions
In the 20th century (around 1920), European colonization poisoned and hunted most of the Eastern wolves.
The remaining wolf population was pushed out of it’s original northeast home and migrated to Canada
At this time, the coyotes, native to the great plains began pushing east
The wolf and coyote population mated together

So why would they mate?

Well, the coyotes were thriving in the east. The wolf however, wasn’t thriving or reproducing which is one of their goals in life. Since there were so little wolves, it is hard for the wolf to mate with it’s own species. However the coyote, which was awfully similar to the wolf, started to seem like a potential mate since the wolves were so desperate. So the coywolf was produced as a need for survival.

The result of Evolution

So our result here is a highly adaptable creature. The coywolf combines the muscle and hunting capabilities of a wolf with the street smarts and brain of a coyote. This creature turns out to be more slender and it seeks food at night, form families, and threatens livestock by preying on them. This creature is one of the most fascinating and highly adaptable creatures in the world.
